FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team was able to win four matches against seventh ranked Edinboro, however was defeated by the Fighting Scots 31-14 on Saturday evening.
The Patriots bump down to 7-9 in duals this season, 2-3 in conference while Edinboro improves to 12-4 and remains undefeated in the EWL with a record of 5-0.
Redshirt junior Vincent Rodriguez began the match with a commanding 9-0 major decision at 133lbs. over Anthony Rivera after Mason was forced to forfeit the 125lb. bout. After Sahid Kargbo and Blake Roulo were defeated at 141 and 149lbs., respectively, redshirt junior Greg Flournoy continued his dual winning streak with a 9-1 major decision over Chase Delande. Edinboro would lead 16-8 at the half.
Patrick Davis continued momentum at 165lbs., fighting to a 8-6 victory over Casey Fuller. Edinboro would win the next three bouts before redshirt senior Jake Kettler defeated Warren Bosch 5-1 with the help of a late takedown.
Mason is back at the RAC on Friday, February 6 at 7 p.m. vs. Binghamton.
