The University of Missouri won the third annual Patriot Intercollegiate for the second time, having earned top honors at the inaugural 2012 tournament. The Tigers edged Marshall at the 6,903-yard, par 71 Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton, Va.
The Tigers finished with a one-under par 851 (282-288-281) at the 54-hole event tournament hosted by the Patriots.
Ryan Zech earned individual medalist honors with a four-under par
Mizzou's Ryan Zech began the day tied for sixth place and was even par going into the final today. He birdied four holes on the front nine to make the turn at minus four and tied for the lead with Chris Crawford from Drexel. Zech birdied the final hole to win the tournament.
Crawford was tied for second place at one-under par going into the final round. He birdied hole four and nine to make the turn at two-under today. He birdied the par 3 hole 14 to take the lead at five-under, but couldn't hold on.
Clark Robinson from Marshall was tied for 14th after two rounds at two-over par. He strung together six birdies in 11 holes to tie Crawford going into the final three holes. Robinson finished with a round-three best 66 to tie Crawford for second place. Crawford and Robinson both finished three-under par overall.
Mason finished 16th in the team standings led by sophomore Kyle Hart with a 219 (77-71-71). He bounced back from a first round 77 to finish with an even-par 71 in the final two rounds. He had five birdies in the second round. In the final round he scored four birdies on the opening nine.
Zach Lauzon carded even par 71 as well today to finish with a 225 (78-76-71). He was two-under par through 17 holes with five birdies on the day.
The Patriots will travel to the Terrapin Invitational in Maryland October 13th and 14th.
