FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason women's lacrosse head coach Jessy Morgan has completed her staff with the additions of Greg Danto and Mary Cuddihy, Morgan announced Tuesday.
“I'm very excited to have both Greg and Mary join me here at Mason,” Morgan said. “They both bring very different skills and knowledge to the program.”
Danto, a University of Baltimore graduate, joins the staff as the offensive and recruiting coordinator after spending four seasons as the offensive strategist and scouting analyst at Mount Hebron High School in Maryland. While at Mount Hebron, Danto also held the position of head lacrosse coach of the M&D Lacrosse Club. Under Danto's leadership, the M&D Lacrosse Club earned the number one national ranking in the 2016 graduating class division.
“Greg is dedicated to the game and to developing female athletes," Morgan said. “He is an excellent recruiter and he should make an immediate impact for us both on the field and in our upcoming recruiting class.”
Cuddihy will work primarily with the goalkeepers and other defensive players and comes to Mason after two years in the same position at Bryant University in Rhode Island. During that time, Cuddihy also worked with New England United Club Lacrosse as the head coach of the 2016 team and overall club goalie coach.
“Mary was highly successful as a goalie both at Hofstra and overseas,” Morgan said. “She brings a lot of passion and love for the game as well as a good variety of collegiate coaching experience.”
Cuddihy was a stand-out goalkeeper at Hofstra University where she earned a B.S. in Physical Education while starting in goal for two seasons. The New York native brings international experience to Fairfax as both a coach and player, having coached in both Germany and the Czech Republic as part of the Global Players Internship and with the Liberty Lax Club Team in New York. While overseas, Cuddihy was able to participate as a player in the Berlin Open where she was part of back-to-back undefeated championships in 2010 and 2011 and was named MVP of the Prague Cup Tournament in 2010.
