The George Mason golf team remained in 15th place overall at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate after finishing with a team 296, just one-under the 297 turned in for the first round. The third and final round will be played Sunday at the UNC Finley Golf Course.
Sophomore Kyle Hart carded a team-best one-over 73 today to finish with a two-day 147. He had four birdies in the round, but a double bogey and a triple bogey on two par fours pushed him over par. Senior Zack Lauzon leads the Patriots after two days with a two round two-over par 146 (72-74). He carded three birdies today with five bogeys.
Freshman Ellis Messian rebounded after a 78 first round score to card a two-over par 74 today. He finished with three birdies and three bogeys, but ended plus two on the day after the double-bogey on the par 3 fifth hole. Brock Kovach scored a three-over par 75 to total 148 after 36 holes.
Host North Carolina leads the 18-team tournament with a 26-under 550 heading into the final round. The Tar Heels Ben Griffin leads the field at 8-under 136.
