The George Mason softball team is set to host George Washington in the Revolutionary Rivalry on Wednesday, April 9. The Colonials will be the third team from the A-10 that the Patriots face this season. The first game will start at 4:00 p.m. at the George Mason Softball Complex.
The Green and Gold are coming into this game on a hot streak, having won five out of its last six games. Most recently, the Patriots split a series with A-10 team Fordham last weekend. Tiffany Webb leads the Patriots with a .407 batting average on the season and is statistically the second hardest hitter to strike out in the nation. Brooke Blankenship has a team-best four home runs and 30 RBI on a .389 batting average.
Sarah Kleinfelter leads the Patriot pitching staff with a team-low 2.70 era. Anna Blessing has a team best 37 strike outs on the season with an impressive 2.92 era. Not only is Mason hitting well, but the pitching staff as a whole averages an impressive 3.17 era.
Most recently, the Colonials split a series with A-10 opponent La Salle. Morgan Matetic leads George Washington with a .357 batting average with four home runs on the season. Meanwhile, Victoria Valos and Megan Linn both have added 26 RBI each for the Colonials.
Meghan Rico leads the George Washington pitching staff with a 10-10 record on the season with a 4.06 era. Courtney Martin is the only other pitcher who has started a game this season for the Colonials. Martin has a 5.59 era on the season with a 4-10 record.
