FAIRFAX, Va. – Redshirt senior pitcher Anthony Montefusco has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Week as announced this afternoon after his performance against the University of Rhode Island on Friday.

Montefusco led the way in the first of two shutouts over the Rams this weekend, tossing eight innings of two-hit baseball while striking out seven batters and walking zero en route to the 5-0 victory. Montefusco has been the starting pitcher for four of the seven shutouts on the season for the Patriots.  

The eight scoreless innings lowers Montefusco's ERA to a team and Atlantic 10 leading 1.04 this season, allowing eight earned runs in 69 innings pitched. The Medford, N.J. native has also tossed a conference-high 57 strikeouts while walking only nine batters in 10 starts. He is next scheduled to pitch in the series opener vs. St. Louis at home on Friday, April 25 at 3:00 p.m.
