FAIRFAX, Va. - In conjunction with the men's tennis team, the George Mason women's tennis team celebrated the careers of its two seniors on Sunday. Seniors Ashley Delaney and Andrea Londen were recognized prior to Sunday's matches.

Scheduled to play La Salle, the Explorers defaulted the match. The Patriots conclude their season at George Washington on Sunday, April 19 before preparing for the Atlantic 10 Championships April 24-27.

Delaney will end her career as a Patriot with over 100 victories as the Ellicott City, Md. native, currently has 51 singles wins and 56 doubles victories. The senior, and current SAAC president, has served as team captain the past two years.

“Ashley has been the ideal college athlete at Mason”, commented head coach Stephen Curtis. “She has been a dedicated Patriot who has always put the team ahead of herself. She has exemplified the term 'lead by example.' I am going to miss the energy and enthusiasm that Ashley brought to each and every practice and match.”

Fellow senior Londen was also recognized on Sunday. The Paradise Valley, Arizona native redshirted her sophomore season after an injury and as a fifth-year senior this season, served as a student assistant. Londen has been co-captain of the team and as a strong student-athlete also in the classroom, also represented the team on SAAC.

"Andy has been a pleasure to have on the team," commented Curtis. "Even when things weren't going her way she maintained a positive attitude and her incredible sense of humor, she could brighten up any situation."

The seniors were awarded Green and Gold Mason Rackets by the Women's Alumnae representative, Jamie (Delorie) Heagy. The final award of the ceremony was a memorial plaque that was presented to Londen in memory of her father, Thomas A. Londen, who was an avid supporter of the women's tennis program at Mason.

The team will travel to Atlantic 10 Conference rival George Washington next Saturday at 11:00 am before traveling to the A-10 Championships in Mason, Ohio.
