The George Mason softball team is set to travel to Philadelphia to take on A-10 opponent La Salle. The Patriots most recently swept George Washington in Fairfax. After the double, Mason moves up to fifth in the A-10 standings.
The Green and Gold are coming into this game on a hot streak, having won seven out of its last eight games. Tiffany Webb leads the Patriots with a .425 batting average on the season and is statistically the second hardest hitter to strike out in the nation. Brooke Blankenship has a team-best four home runs and 32 RBI on a .389 batting average. Meanwhile, Casey Price is coming off one of her best series of the season, going three for four with five RBI against the Colonials.
Anna Blessing leads the pitching staff with a 2.58 era and 37 strike outs. Blessing pitched a three-hit complete game against George Washington and gave up zero earned runs. Casey Herring also pitched well for the Patriots, pitching a complete game and giving up just one earned run. Not only is Mason hitting well, but the pitching staff as a whole averages an impressive 2.98 era.
Most recently, La Salle lost to Villanova 4-0 in a one-game series. Megan Hodgson leads the Explorers on offense with seven home runs and 24 RBI on the season. Suzanne Swanicke leads the team with a .365 batting average for La Salle.
Alicia Aughton leads the Explorer pitching staff with a 2.02 era and a 7-7 record on the season. Meanwhile, Mary Cate Scott is 5-7 on the season with a 4.00 era so far.
