The George Mason softball team will travel to Philadelphia to take on St. Joseph's in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 22. These games will kick off A-10 play for the Patriots.
The Green and Gold come into this game on a four-game winning streak. The Patriots have been hitting extremely well, averaging 9.25 runs in those four games. Mason just finished hosting Colgate, Binghamton, and Akron in the Cherry Blossom Classic. Brooke Blankenship leads the Patriots with a .381 batting average and 14 runs scored. Casey Price and Blankenship have a team-best 13 RBI on the season. Anna Blessing leads the Patriot pitching staff with a team-low 2.27 era and 31 strike outs. Not only is Mason hitting well, but the pitching staff as a whole averages an impressive 3.00 era.
After losing five straight games, St. Joseph's won its last game against Miami (OH) in the USF Under Armour Showcase. Nicole Palase leads the Hawks with a .360 batting average and 10 RBI on the season. Palase also has hit two home runs for St. Joe's. Meanwhile, Liz Mendez has started nine out of 17 games for the Hawks. Mendez is 4-5 on the season, pitching a 3.92 era.
