George Mason Women's Lacrosse Team takes on Campbell at 7:00 pm in the George Mason Stadium for their first annual "Light the Night" game.
The Patriots ask all fans to wear red to show support for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The team has a personal connection to the cause and look forward to working with the Light the Night Organization. The Patriots have been actively fundraising, already exceeding their original goal of $2,000.
They will also continue the relationship in the fall when the Patriots participate in the Reston Town Center Light the Night Walk, October 17, 2014 in Reston, Virginia at 5:00 pm. “We will be playing for more than just a victory on Friday,” said team captain Kelli Beard. “This game, this day, will be used as an attempt to promote awareness of lymphoma and leukemia. For those who are supporting, fighting, recovering, or beating cancer, you stand beside a team who knows that the toughest battles are given to the strongest soldiers. We will fight the fight and we will win. All you need are Rays of Hope.”
Friday night's match up marks the first between the programs as the Green and Gold look to extend their current five game win streak. The Patriots are led by senior Rachel Obregon with 17 goals followed by Katie Mascolo with 15. Campbell comes to Fairfax on a win streak of its own. After dropping their first two contests, the Camels have won three straight, led by Loren Day with 10 goals on the season.
The Patriots hope to raise $5,000.00 for their "Light the Night" walk this fall. If you are interested in donating to help Mason reach their goal, please follow the instructions below:
