The 2014 Atlantic 10 Conference Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Academic All-Conference teams were announced on Tuesday, comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their performance in the pool, as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, swimmers and divers must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career.
Making up the Men's Swimming and Diving Academic nominations from George Mason was senior Joey Kelly. Kelly finished 3rd overall at A-10 championships in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 44.46 and 4th overall in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:38.06, both season-bests. The Fairfax, Va. native was also a member of the school-record setting 200-yard and 800-yard freestyle relays that placed second at A-10 championships in a times of 1:20.50 and 6:34.34, respectively.
On the women's side, sophomore Melissa Davis and senior Paige Impink were both named to the All-Academic team.Davis was a winner in the 200-yard backstroke at Atlantic 10 championships in a time of 1:57.61. The senior Impink had individual third place finishes at A-10's in the 100-yard butterfly (55.30) and the 100-yard backstroke (56.01).
