Following a stellar indoor season, senior Mandissa Marshall is scheduled to compete at the NCAA Indoor national championships Friday night in Albuquerque, New Mexico after qualifying with the ninth-best mark in the nation at 4.32m (14'2') at the Mason Last Chance Meet earlier this month.
After narrowly missing last year's indoor championships and redshirting the outdoor season, this weekend will mark Marshall's first time at the NCAA championships since the 2012 outdoor season.
“She's improved a ton in that time, she's coming in on a roll, she's experienced, she's confident and she's really ready,” head coach Andrew Gerard said. “Coach (Kevin) McGorty has done a remarkable job of getting her prepared and we're all excited for her this weekend!"
Marshall took the Atlantic 10 by storm snagging two A-10 Performers of the Week honors in addition to taking the A-10 women's pole vault championship last month.
The Mountain Top, Pa. native took the top collegiate spot in all seven of her outings and the top overall spot in six, the lone exception being a second-place finish at the Hokie Invitational in late January.
The women's pole vault finals will take place Friday at 8 p.m. (EST), results will be available at NCAA.com.
