FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team lost its second and final conference dual of the season on Sunday, falling 36-3 to Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa.
The loss moves the Patriots' record to 6-13, 0-2 in conference while the Huskies improve to 8-6 and 4-2 in the Eastern Wrestling League this season.
Bloomsburg got out to an early lead and never looked back, taking a 9-0 advantage after the first two matches. Sophomore Sahid Kargbo was the lone Patriot to win his match on the afternoon, defeating Matthew Rappo 9-3 at 141lbs. for his 18th victory of the season.
The final seven matches went to the Huskies, including one pin and one technical fall, to seal the 36-3 final score. Vincent Rodriguez put up a fight at 133lbs., going down 1-0 to Bloomsburg's Nick Wilcox while Jake Kettler surrendered four points in a 4-0 loss to no. 16 Justin Grant in the heavyweight match.
Mason next hosts a double header on Sunday, February 16. The University of Virginia comes to Fairfax for a 2 p.m. dual followed a contest with Coker College at 3:30 p.m. Admission for both duals is free of charge.
