The Mason women's tennis team lost to the #21 ranked team in Division III, Mary Washington, 4-3 on Wednesday. The Eagles came out strong to win the doubles point. The Patriots mounted a comeback but fell short winning only three of the six singles matches.

The freshmen duo of Marijke Boers and Morgan Yang defeated Alea Ritter and Mackenzie Smith 8-2. Brittany Pilkington and Ashley Delaney lost to Lindsay Raulston and Shelby Harris 8-3. The Eagles team of Ashley Barrow and Alina Suyama earned the doubles point for UMW with a win at three doubles as they defeated Mina Saygi and Sophie Santa Maria 8-3.

With a 1-0 lead, the Eagles quickly added to their lead as Olivia Lacy-Thompson lost to Ritter. Mina Saygi secured Mason's first point with her win over Berri Flood. The Eagles pulled ahead 3-1 when Harris defeated Yang at the #2 spot. Delaney pulled Mason back to within one as she defeated Christina Gaul. Boers defeated Smith in the third set for Mason's final point. UMW's Raulston picked up the win over Pilkington in the third set to clinch the match.

Mason drops to 2-7 before heading to face their first A10 opponent, Duquesne, on Friday evening. Mary Washington improves to 3-0 on the season.
