The George Mason golf team wrapped up their first spring tournament at the sixth annual Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate played at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif. The Patriots finished the final of three rounds with their best team score, 302.
Zack Lauzon led the Patriots with a three-round even par 216 and finished in a tie for 36th. Lauzon carded two-over par 74 today. Kevin Yerks finished tied for 68th after carding a three-round (73-72-77)222.
Taking the individual medalist award for the second consecutive year was TCU's Julien Brun who shot a 203 (-13). Brun recorded a 206 (-10) to win the tournament last year. In second place was Oregon's Sulman Raza with a score of 208 (-8). Ryan Porch of Idaho and Ryann Ree of Oregon tied for third place with a three-round total of 209 (-7).
Oregon won the team championship with a final tally of 837 (-27). Colorado finished three strokes behind the Ducks in second with a score of 840 (-24). Finishing third and nine strokes behind Colorado was Idaho with a team score of 849 (-15).
The Patriots will travel during Spring Break to Florida to host the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular March 15-16.
