FAIRFAX, Va. - Beginning tomorrow on Wednesday, February 19, seven men's and 10 women's swimming & diving teams will compete in the four-day A-10 swimming & diving championships held at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
George Mason hits the road for its first ever Atlantic 10 swimming & diving conference championship meet after hosting the Colonia Athletic Association conference championships for the previous 15 seasons in Fairfax. Competition begins with the 1-meter diving preliminary heats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday and runs through event finals on Saturday, February 22.
The Patriots were predicted to finish third overall in the men's competition earlier in the season, behind UMass and defending team champion St. Bonaventure. The women were slated to finish four behind UMass, Fordham and defending champion Richmond who is coming off its third consecutive conference title, 11th in the last 12 years.
Mason swept Delaware, La Salle and George Washington in dual meets this season, the last two being conference opponents. Both the men and women also each one the Patriot Invitational title and finished second at the Potomac duals in October.
