FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason wrestling team fell in its fourth consecutive dual to the University of Virginia on Sunday as the Cavaliers won nine of 10 matches to win 34-4 over the Patriots at the RAC.
Mason's dual record now moves to 6-14 this season while the Cavaliers improve to 18-3. It is the second consecutive dual in which Mason has surrendered over 30 points while scoring only three.
Sophomore Sahid Kargbo won his match at 141lbs. for the fourth consecutive dual, defeating Virginia's Emilio Martinez 9-4 for his 19th victory of the season, 14th in a dual format.
Virginia jumped out to a 7-0 team lead after winning the first two matches. Several Patriots kept their matches close, with Vincent Rodriguez, Greg Flournoy, Matt Meadows and Jake Kettler losing by three points or less.
The next match on the schedule for Mason wrestling is on Thursday, February 20. The Patriots host University of Maryland for a senior day dual at the RAC starting at 7 p.m.
