FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's cross country teams have each earned 2013 Division 1 All-Academic Honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Friday.

The Patriots are among 217 women's programs and 160 men's programs that earned All-Academic Team honors this season. Programs must have compiled a cumulative GPA or 3.00 or greater to qualify for the award.

In total 231 unique programs were recognized, including 146 programs that had both their women's and men's teams earn the honor. The George Mason men compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.06 and the women earned an impressive cumulative GPA of 3.48.

The academic honors cap a 2013 that saw the first individual Atlantic 10 Conference champion in school history in junior Bethany Sachtleben and both teams earning top-5 finishes at IC4A/ECAC Championships in November.
