GoMason.com is going out of the pool to catch up with student-athletes on the swimming & diving team. This installment features freshman Dorothy Reilly.
GoMason.com: What influenced your decision to attend George Mason University?
Dorothy Reilly: I chose Mason because the swim team and academics have a lot to offer. The pool facility is one of the best I've seen and I love how close the campus is to DC. The school isn't too far away from my home either which is really convenient.
GoMason: What has been your favorite part about George Mason?
Reilly: My favorite part about Mason so far has been getting to know my teammates and being able to practice and compete with them. The team here is so welcoming and I love how close we all are with each other.
GoMason: What goals have you set for yourself this season?
Reilly: My goals for this season are to qualify for the A final at A-10s in the 200 butterfly and even place in the top-3.
GoMason: Which drill/practice is your favorite to do?
Reilly: My favorite practice is stroke sets, especially when we do a fast 100 or 200 off of the blocks.
GoMason: What activities do you enjoy doing out of the pool?
Reilly: Whenever I have the time, I like to go shopping or just hang out with my friends.
GoMason: If you could swim in one event in the Olympics, which would it be and why?
Reilly: If I could swim in one event at the Olympics, it would probably be the 200 fly because it is my favorite event.
GoMason: If you could not swim, what other sport would you choose to compete in and why?
Reilly: If I couldn't swim, I would most definitely take up gymnastics because I did it when I was younger and I liked it. It's one of my favorite sports to watch!
GoMason: If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
Reilly: If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life it would be my mom's chicken pot pie with my grandma's mac and cheese.
