FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's cross country team has moved into the top 10 rankings of the Southeast Region. The Green and Gold are ranked ninth after winning the A-10 Championship on Saturday.
USTFCCCA previously ranked the Patriots 15th after competing at the Princeton Invitational. The Patriots were able to best La Salle and Duquesne, both in the top 10 of the Mid-Atlantic Region, at the A-10 Championships.
Michael Conway led the way for the men's team after finishing second overall with an impressive time of 24:40.3. Steven Flynn and Brent Coulter also performed well, after finishing third and fourth overall with times of 24:49.3 and 24:52.7, respectively. Conway, Flynn, and Coulter were each selected to the A-10 All-Conference team after the race.
Director of T&F and XC Andrew Gerard was also named the Coach of the Year by the A-10 in just the Patriots second season in the conference.
The Green and Gold are hitting their stride at the right time, with the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships just around the corner. The competition is set to be held on Saturday, November 14 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
