FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason men's and women's swimming & diving teams each defeated the College of Charleston in the weekend's quad meet at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.
The men defeated the Cougars 203-150 while women won their dual 257-90. Towson's men and women both outscored the Patriots as well as the Northeastern women.
The Mason men took the top-three spots in the three-meter dive, again led by Paul Helfgott with a score of 272.85. Following Helfgott was Trevor Long (226.35) and Sean Burstein (201.15). The team of Alec Morin, Daniel Camozzo, Jesse Burnley and Travis Lauri also finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:05.33.
Sydney Fisher was a winner on the in the women's competition, grabbing the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 52.05, one day after winning the 50-yard freestyle. Dorothy Reilly finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:06.37 while Madison Baker and Steff Maurer placed third in their respective events, the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.63) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:05.78).
Next on the schedule for the Patriots is a conference dual at La Salle on Saturday, November 15 beginning at noon.
