The George Mason wrestling team begins its season on November 2 with duals against VMI, Anderson and Virginia. GoMason.com caught up with freshman Tejon Anthony before the season in this first installment of Rookie Wrestlers.
GoMason.com: What factors helped you choose to attend George Mason University?
Tejon Anthony: Distance from home, tuition cost, academic ranking, cultural diversity of campus and having a wrestling team.
GoMason.com: What would you say is your favorite thing about George Mason?
Anthony: My favorite thing about George Mason is the diversity of the campus, being able to meet people with many different ethnic backgrounds from across the world.
GoMason.com: What are some things you looking forward to now that you are wrestling at the collegiate level?
Anthony: Some of the things I look forward to now that I'm wrestling at the collegiate level are the increased level of competition, traveling with the team, and ultimately becoming a better wrestler.
GoMason.com: How has practice and training been so far this season?
Anthony: Practice and training this season has been tough but also very gratifying after seeing results and your progress in strength, conditioning, and technique.
GoMason.com: What kind of goals do you have for the upcoming season?
Anthony: Make the starting lineup, win the conference as an individual and team, go to the NCAA tournament and place and help the team the best way I can.
GoMason.com: Which meets are you looking forward to attending this season?
Anthony: University of Maryland College Park (home town) and University of Virginia (first match).
