George Mason women's lacrosse is set to host Duke Saturday at 2 p.m. on field five of the George Mason campus in Fairfax in the Patriots first home match of the fall.
“We are excited to play some really tough competition this fall,” first year head coach, Jessy Morgan said. “We have changed a few positions up on the field and are really looking to challenge ourselves this fall and prepare ourselves for A-10.”
The Blue Devils are coming off an 11-8 season and made it to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament where they fell to Maryland. Morgan believes the tough competition will pay off, especially with so many inexperienced players on the roster.
“We have 11 new freshman this year and the fall season is important for them to get accustomed to the pace and physicality of the college game,” Morgan said.
The Patriots follow that up with the Alumni Match on Saturday, October 11 at 11 a.m. before heading to La Salle for the La Salle Fall Tournament on Saturday, October 25. In addition to the Explorers, Mason will face Wagner and Saint Francis (Pa.).
