George Mason sophomore Kyle Hart was named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Golfer of the Week. He received the award for tournaments played during the week of Oct. 8-14.
Hart earned the honor after winning his first collegiate tournament, the Maryland Terrapin Invitational played this past Monday and Tuesday at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. He posted a four-under par 68 in the opening round, his lowest collegiate score and was the overall leader after the first of three rounds. He dropped to second and was one stroke off the lead after carding a 74 in round two on the par 72, 7,250 yard Woodmont's North Course.
In his final round, the Midlothian, Va. native recorded an even par 72 to earn medalist honors with a 54-hole 214 (68-74-72). In the round he holed out for an eagle from 165 on the par 4 ninth and birdied the 10th to slip back under par before finishing even at 72.
Hart is the first Mason golfer to earn the conference weekly award since September 2012 when Kevin Yerks earned the honor.
