OCCOQUAN, Va. – On Sunday, the George Mason rowing team opened the fall season competing on their home course in the annual Occoquan Chase. The Patriots raced six boats in two races.

In the women's varsity 8, the Patriots captured second behind first-place UNC, while also taking seventh and ninth. Up next, the women's varsity 4 took fourth and fifth places in addition to seventh.
