Three Patriots Earn Weekly Track and Field Honors

FAIRFAX--George Mason track and field received conference weekly honors for the second straight week taking the men's and women's Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors as well as women's A-10 Rookie of the week.

Senior Adrian Vaughn was tabbed Men's co-Performer of the Week alongside Massachusetts' Nick Ingham. Fellow senior Dianna Barron received the same honor for the women, earning co-Performer of the Week recognition alongside Saint Louis' Naya Owusu. Freshman Nhautrey Brown rounded out the honors earning women's Rookie of the week.

The honor is Vaughn's second in as many weeks. At Friday's Great Dane Classic Vaughn competed in three events helping the men's team to a fourth place finish overall. Vaughn took second place amongst D-I competitors in the 200m dash with a time of 21.38 seconds, placing him first in the Atlantic 10 as of Jan. 20 and 21st in the nation. The senior also competed in the 60m finishing tied for seventh amongst D-I competitors with a time of 6.96 seconds. Last but not least, he rounded out his day helping the men's 4x400 relay team to a second place finish. Vaughn, accompanied by Angel Coburn, Jordan May and Taylor Sykes, finished with a time of 3:14.98.

Barron earned the nod after several top finishes at Friday's  Great Dane Classic. The Ohio native cracked the nation's current top five in the 400m dash with a first place finish on Friday with a time of 54.65. Barron, accompanied by Kiya Day, Caela Williams and Dominique Graham also nailed down the top spot in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:44.17 setting a new meet record.

Brown earned Mason's first track and field Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week recognition after a second place finish in the triple jump on Friday. The Seattle native finished with a distance of 12.34m putting her at second in the conference and 28th in the nation.

Next up, the Patriots head to Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational Jan. 24th and 25th
