The Mason golf team is in sixth place going into the final round Sunday at the second annual Patriot Iintercollegiate, the teams only home tournament of the fall season. The 54-hole tournament is being played at the par 71, 6,903 yard Laurel Hills Golf Course in Lorton, Va,
Marshall University leads the tournament after 36 holes with a team three-over par 571 (287-284), 11 strokes ahead of second place Columbia University. Christopher Newport is just one stroke behind the Lions with a team 583. Penn and Hofstra are tied for fourth place.
The Herd has three players in the top 10 currently, including overall leader Brain Anani with a two-round 139 (70-69). Logan Lagodich and Clarke Robinson in third and 10th respectively for Marshall. Hofstra's David Mecca is second overall with a two-under par 140.
The Patriots were led by Mark Folkwein even par two-round score. He carded a three-over par 74 in the morning, but came back with a 68, tied for lowest round scored in the tournament. He is in eighth place going into the final round. Mason's freshman Kyle Hart carded an even par in the first round and followed with a 76 to finished tied for 18th.
Tee times begin at 8:15 am on Sunday.
