The George Mason golf team recorded their best team score of the three-round VCU Shootout to vault ahead of Central Connecticut State and finish 10th in the two-day tournament. The Patriots cut two strokes off of their second round score to finish (312-302-300) 914 on the par 72, 6,955 yard Hermitage Country Club.
Senior Kevin Yerks was consistent throughout the tournament, carding even par in two rounds and a one-over par 73 in the second to finish tied for 15th overall. Mark Folkwein scored a two-over par today to help the Patriots. He finished with a three-round 233 (78-81-74). The Patriots Zack Lauzon carded even par in the second round, but bookend rounds of 80 in the first and 79 in the final round dropped him to 59th overall.
The Patriots will host their only home tournament of the fall season this weekend, the second annual Patriot Intercollegiate. The 54-hole tournament will be played on Saturday and Sunday at Laurel Hills Golf Club in Lorton, Va.
