The Mason men's tennis team is hosting the Mason Invitational this weekend on campus. Local teams including Mount St. Mary's, Mary Washington and UMBC traveled to Fairfax to participate in the two-day event.

The Patriots dominated the action on the opening day, winning eight of the nine singles matches and all four doubles matches.

        Mason was matched up against Mount St. Mary's in seven singles matches, sweeping them all. One match went more than two sets, but Mason's Joe Hill prevailed in the tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-0 (10-3). Two singles matches pitted the Patriots against Mary Washington. Mason's Wesley Wong defeated Marcell Rengifo, 6-3, 6-2, but the Eagles Scott Buie topped Youssef Khalafallah, 6-2, 6-3.

        In doubles action, Mason won three matches against Mount opponents, including a shut-out as the Mason pair of Hill/Lange defeated the Mounts Solomon/Tonon, 8-0. The Patriots duo of Barker/Moran defeated Mary Washington's Rengifo/Craig, 8-4.

        The final day of the tournament will be Sunday.
