On Wednesday, August 28, 2013, members of the George Mason community gathered at Robert Bellarmine Chapel to celebrate the life of Patrick Sibley, his time at George Mason as a student and member of the men's volleyball team.
Mason students, student-athletes, alums, staff, faculty and administration all paid tribute to Patrick who died Aug. 18, 2013. Attendees were also given the opportunity to send notes with stories and memories to the family of Patrick.
Associate Athletic Director, Student Services, Nena Rogers gave opening remarks before Father Peter Nassetta gave the scripture. Men's volleyball head coach Fred Chao delivered the eulogy before men's volleyball player and teammate Dave Lucas shared memories of Patrick. Father Peter finished the ceremony with closing remarks.
“Part of the magic I saw in Pat was his ability to shine,” stated Chao during the eulogy. “He was a respectful person with the kindest and warmest heart. We feel so much sadness because of so much joy he brought to us.”
