Andrew Gerard, the Patriots director of track and field, announced the George Mason 2013 cross country schedule today.
Mason will open the season for the second straight year at the Spider Alumni Open scheduled for Sept. 6 at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville. The Patriots will then compete at the Virginia Invitational on Sept. 28 at Panorama Farms in Earlysville, Va, This event will give the Patriots a preview of the course slated for the NCAA Southeast Region Championships on Nov. 15.
The Green and Gold will host the annual Mason Invitational on Saturday, October 5 at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. Last season, both the men's and women's team placed second on the home course. This will mark the fourth straight season Mason will host the event at the Oatlands.
The last race to gear up before the Patriots inaugural Atlantic 10 Championship will be the Blue Ridge Open, hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, NC on October 18. In 2012, the men's team participated and finished second-place overall behind Wake Forest. The A-10 Championships will be hosted by the University of Richmond on Nov. 2.
The IC4A/ECAC Championships will be held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y and the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind on Nov. 23.
