Three George Mason University wrestlers competed this past weekend at the U.S. World Team Trials on the campus of Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. Rising sophomore Sahid Kargbo, representing Patriot Elite Wrestling, won his weight class and will represent the USA at the Junior World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria in August.
Kargbo dropped the first match before coming back to win two straight over Alejandro Sancho from the United States Olympic education center (USEOC) in the Greco finals at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. He won the Greco-Roman Challenge Tournament with a pin against Chris Caldwell (Suples WC/CYC) to advance to the finals.
Jake Kettler finished with a 1-2 record wrestling in the senior Greco-Roman division at 120 KG. Rising sophomore Matt Meadows wrestled in the Freestyle Junior division at 96KG and finished 0-2.
