LYNCHBURG, Va. – Junior midfielder Rachel Obregon was one of 22 student-athletes recognized by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) as the organization announced its 2013 All-State University Division Women's Lacrosse team on Friday. Obregon was named to the second team as voted upon by VaSID.
An All-CAA Second Team honoree this season, Obregon finished her junior campaign second on the team in scoring with 40 points behind 34 goals and six assists. Additionally, the Fairfax Station, Va., native recorded 18 ground balls, 13 draw controls and 10 caused turnovers. Obregon scored at least one goal in 15 of 16 games, while setting career-highs in goals (4), assists (3), points (5), ground balls (4) and draw controls (4) during the season.
VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state's institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA and community college levels, provided that individual's area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.
