FAIRFAX, Va. – Mason track and field standout David Verburg has been selected to participate in the 2013 World University Games, held later this summer in Kazan, Russia.
Verburg will represent the United States in the 400m as part of the event that runs from July 6-17. He is coming off a strong showing at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships last weekend, when he ran a PR of 45.03 in the 400m en route to a fourth-place finish while collecting First Team All-America honors. His time currently ranks him eighth in the world and fourth among US collegiate competitors.
Known as the Universiade worldwide, the 11-day experience is an International multi-sport event organized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU). This year marks the 27th summer Universiade which is held every two years by various host cities around the world.
