FAIRFAX, Va. – The George Mason track and field team will be sending a combined 11 individuals and two relays to the NCAA East Preliminary Round, hosted by North Carolina A&T on May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C.

For the women, Daianna Barron (400m), Shavon Briscoe (100m hurdles), Cierra McGee (400m), Jasmine Moser (pole vault), Bethany Sachtleben (10,000m), Aneesha Scott (200m) and Taylor Wheaton (400m hurdles) and the 4x400m relay of Barron, McGee, Wheaton and Dominique Graham will all represent Mason at the meet.

On the men's side, Jimi Tele (triple jump), Adrian Vaughn (200m), David Verburg (400m) and Anthony Williams (110m hurdles) and the 4x400m relay of Angel Coburn, Vaughn, DaQuan Smalls and Verburg will make the trip to Greensboro.

Ranking in the Top 5 in the East Region, Verburg currently has the second-fastest 400m time, while the women's 4x400m relay stands fourth. The Patriots have a total of five women and three men ranked in the Top 30.

The NCAA Preliminary rounds work as an elimination format for track and field, with student-athletes having to advance out of the preliminaries and quarterfinal rounds in order to advance to the semifinals and finals at the NCAA Championship Finals.

The nation is split into an East and West Region, with the top 48 student-athletes per event and the top 24 relays over the course of the season per region advancing to the Preliminary Rounds.

At the NCAA Preliminaries, the top 12 student-athletes per event and top 12 relays per region after the preliminary round will earn a qualification to the NCAA Championships.
