PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The George Mason rowing team opened competition strong at the 75th annual Dad Vail Regatta, advancing all four boats to Saturday competition. The regatta is raced on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, Pa.
Racing got started with the varsity four taking third place as the top three boats advanced to the semi-final round on Saturday. Mason finished in 07:39.630 beating out Delaware and Genesco. Western Ontario took the top spot (07:12.186).
The varsity pair took the water next and claimed a second-place finish behind Case. The Patriots took home a time of 08:01.242 just behind Case's 07:56.440 to move onto Saturday's semi-final round.
With a second place finish in preliminary action, the varsity eight advanced to the reps round on Friday afternoon, where three boats advanced to the semis. Mason finished second (07:04.372) just behind Temple to move into Saturday in the final race of the day for the Patriots.
The novice four also moved on to the semis claiming a second-place finish in its preliminary action. The Patriots finished with a time of 07:43.235 just behind Fairfield and beat out Grand Valley, Fordham and US Military Academy.
