PRINCETON, N.J. – The George Mason track and field distance and multi-event student-athletes took to the track on Friday in day one action of the ECAC/IC4A Outdoor Championships at Weaver Stadium on the campus of Princeton University.
Bethany Sachtleben competed in the 5000m run for the women, finishing third in a time of 16:27.60. Michael Conway also recorded a top-five finish for the Patriots, crossing the finish line in the 10000m in third place, 30:29.95. Defending champion Everett Hackett (31:48.89) and Sean Nestor (32:42.79) also competed in the 10000m, finishing 21st and 26th, respectively.
Also on the track for the men Jason Hartman took part in the 3000m steeplechase, taking 24th in a time of 9:27.30.
In the only field event of the day, Michelle Wallerstedt finished 12th in the women's discus after a toss of 45.35m.
Standing 13th in the decathlon after the first day of competition, Gustavo Osorio finished 5th in the 400m (50.56), 11th in the shot put (11.63m), 13th in the 100m (11.83) and high jump (1.72m) and 14th in the long jump (6.05m). He will conclude the event tomorrow with the 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m run.
The Patriots return to action tomorrow, with relays and sprints hosting preliminary rounds to set the field for Sunday's finals.
