FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason lacrosse team dropped a hard-fought 10-4 decision Friday night against Towson in Colonial Athletic Association play at George Mason Stadium. Four different Patriots scored in the contest as Mason moved to 5-6 overall and 0-2 in CAA play. Towson improved to 3-7 and 2-0.

Rachel Obregon, Allie Hilderbrandt, Caitlin McGinn and Caitlin Formato each tallied a goal for the Patriots who were narrowly outshot by the Tigers, 23-20. The Patriots won the edge in ground balls 21-15, but Towson used a 12-4 advantage in draw controls for the victory. Danielle Woll caused two turnovers and picked up a team-best five ground balls. Caroline Brouse and Brittany Pastrana split time in cage, combining for eight saves.

Rhiannon Coogle led the Tigers with four goals as Sarah Maloof and Ashley Waldron each contributed two goals apiece. Paige Duncan and Katie Leech both won three draw controls.

Towson kept Mason scoreless in the first half using six unanswered goals to run away with the lead. Waldron scored the first two goals for the Tigers as Coogle added a pair in the period for the 6-0 halftime Towson lead.

Formato put the Patriots on the scoreboard with the first tally of the second half as Hilderbrandt scored at the 21:09 mark to make it a 6-2 ballgame. Towson responded with a pair of goals for an 8-2 lead before Obregon snapped the run converting a free position shot at 10:27. Coogle made it a 9-3 contest before McGinn recorded Mason's final goal of the evening at 5:03 as the Tigers scored with three seconds on the clock for the final 10-4 decision.
