NEWS & NOTES
The George Mason softball team will travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to take on the Dukes of James Madison for a Colonial Athletic Association three-game series. The two teams met last year, when the Dukes swept the Patriots in a three-game series.
The Patriots have won three of their four games this past week. Mason swept Hampton University in a doubleheader on Tuesday, taking the first game 3-1 and the second game by a 10-2 decision in five innings. The Patriots then split a doubleheader with Maryland on Wednesday. Mason won the first game 8-3 and fell 4-3 in the second game.
Brooke Blankenship continues to lead the Patriot offensively hitting .319 with 38 hits, 13 doubles, one triple, two home runs and 28 RBI's.
The Dukes have won four of their last five games. Most recently splitting a doubleheader with Virginia Tech. James Madison enters undefeated in CAA play and are currently seated second in the conference standings.
Sarah Mooney leads statistically for the Dukes hitting .387 with 43 hits, five doubles, ten home runs, and 41 RBI's. Jailyn Ford is close behind Mooney hitting .380 with 41 hits, eight doubles, nine home runs and 30 RBI's.
