Mason and Towson will take to the diamond in CAA action this weekend at Spuhler Field. Friday's contest marks the 68th all-time meeting between the two squads, with the Patriots owning a slim 34-33 advantage.
Mason is in the midst of a nine game skid, and has lost its last eight conference games. It is the longest winless streak since 2011, when the team went 0-9-1 over a two week span in March.
Blaise Fernandez and Tucker Tobin have started all 33 games for Mason this season, and top the majority of offensive statistics. Fernandez is hitting a team-best .391 with 52 hits, 13 doubles and .457 on-base percentage in addition to 22 runs scored and 17 RBI's, while Tobin is hitting .360 with a team-leading eight home runs, 31 RBI's and 27 runs scored.
Towson enters the weekend 17-16 overall and 7-5 in the CAA and has won four of its last five games after halting a seven game losing streak with a win against William and Mary last weekend.
Dominic Fratantuono is the only Tiger to start all 31 games this season and leads the team hitting .371 with 46 hits, nine doubles, four home runs, 25 runs scored and 33 RBI's.
