FAIRFAX, Va. - The George Mason softball team will host Monmouth, Longwood and Cornell University for the Mason Invitational this weekend. The tournament will be held at the George Mason Softball Complex and will begin on Friday.

Mason hosted the Patriot Classic last weekend where they went 4-2 on the weekend. The Patriots defeated Rider twice and Cornell once and went 1-2 against Rutgers. Brooke Blankenship led Mason in hits and RBIs.

Monmouth enters the tournament 4-2, having last competed at the Winthrop University Tournament where they went 1-2. The Hawks defeated Furman but fell to Winthrop and UNC-Greensboro.

The Lancers of Longwood enter 9-4. Longwood went 2-1 in their series with Winthrop on Tuesday.

Cornell returns to Mason after going 2-2 in the Mason Invitational where they opened their season. The Big Red fell to The Patriots and Rutgers but defeated Rider twice.
