The George Mason track and field team has qualified
two entries for the upcoming NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field
Championships, as announced by the NCAA.
The NCAA Indoor Championships take place Friday and
Saturday, March 8-9, at the Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the
University of Arkansas.
Senior David Verburg is
the lone individual competing for the Patriots at the weekend meet,
taking to the track in the 400m. Verburg qualified for the indoor
championships with the third-fastest time in the 400m this season,
45.83, which he ran at the Great Dane Classic earlier this season. It is
the second individual indoor appearance for Verburg, who also competed a
season ago in the same event but did not advance past the prelims.
Verburg
will be joned by senior George Empty, junior Adrian Vaughn and freshman
Angel Coburn at the meet, as the quartet will compete in the 4x400m
relay. Running the event in 3:07.29 earlier this season, the group
enters the meet with the seventh-fastest time.
The
400m semifinals will take place on Friday at 7:40 p.m. EST, with the
finals to be held on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. EST. The 4x400m relay finals
will be run at 9:20 p.m. EST on Saturday.
