LAKE LURE,
N.C. - The George Mason rowing team saw its first competition of the spring
season on Friday in an exhibition against North Carolina. The two teams met on
Lake Lure in North Carolina.
"Today we
did race pieces with UNC," stated head coach Geoff Dillard. "Due to weather we
have not been able to work on everything that we would have liked. We focused
on a couple of key technical parts of the stroke that we wanted to accomplish,
and we were successful in executing those points during the races.
"UNC was the better team today but our team competed really well. I am happy
with where we are at this point in the season and we have plenty of room for
improvement. We are looking forward to racing at Murphy Cup in a couple of weeks.
Mason
officially kicks off the spring season at the Murphy Cup on March 30 in
