RICHMOND, Va. - George Mason freshman defender Erin Anderson
was recognized Monday by the Colonial Athletic Association, receiving Rookie of
the Week honors for her performance against American. The West Chester, Pa., native
helped lead the Patriots to a victory over the Eagles last week for their second straight
win of the season.
Anderson led the team in ground balls with four against
American, while also recording a team-best two caused turnovers. The freshman
finished the game with one draw control. On the season, Anderson is second on
the team in both ground balls and caused turnovers with seven in each category.
"Erin has made a strong impact in our defensive unit already
this season," commented head coach Lauren Hay. "She has a tireless work ethic
on and off the field and we see the result in her performance in games. We are
thrilled to see her recognized by the conference for her hard work."
The Patriots return to action traveling to
Albany for a Wednesday, March 13 matchup at 12 p.m. in New York.
