The Patriots and Spiders take to the field this week in a
home-and-home series. Tuesday's game will be at Pitt Field in Richmond before
both teams head to Fairfax for game two on Wednesday.
Mason swept the two meetings between the squads a season
ago, but Richmond owns a commanding 51-29-1 record in the all-time series.
The Patriots are an even 7-7 this season, most recently
dropping its CAA opening weekend to Georgia State, 2-1. Mason won Friday's game
in a wild 14-13 affair, but the Panthers rallied to win on Saturday and Sunday
to take the series.
Junior Tucker Tobin is one of four Patriots to start all
14 games this season, and leads the team batting .475 with 28 hits, five home
runs, 18 RBI's, 15 runs scored and a .864 slugging percentage. Junior Blaise
Fernandez has also started all 14 games and is hitting .379 with a team-best
seven doubles.
Richmond is 12-3 overall after winning a weekend series
over the Quinnipiac Bulldogs. The Spiders had a seven-game winning streak
snapped by Quinnipiac on Sundays, as the Bulldogs took game two of a
doubleheader.
Nick Poulos is hitting a team-best .426, while Bret
Williams leads the team with 21 hits, five doubles, 14 RBI and a .404 batting
average.
