CHARLESTON,
S.C. - The George Mason softball team fell to UNC Greensboro, 2-1, and
Charleston Southern, 6-4, Saturday in the Charleston Southern
Tournament. With the losses the Patriots fall to 1-2 on the season.
In
the first game of the day for Mason, the Patriots and Spartans went
back and forth with no runs scored until Lindsay Thomas homered to left
field to put UNCG on the board in the bottom of the fifth. Aubrey
Baldwin also scored for the Spartans in the fifth after a Mason error.
It would be the last time UNCG would score but it would be enough for

to move

middle to bring Merriken home to put Mason on the board. The Patriots
had another opportunity at the end of the inning with the bases loaded
but the Spartans kept the Patriots scoreless for the win.

up her first win of the season. Gabriele moved to 0-1 after throwing
five innings and allowing three hits and two runs.

scored to give Mason a 2-0 lead. Webb was able to score off a throwing
error by Stephanie Sbardella, while McColgan scored on a RBI from Megan
Blank.
Mason rallied back in the third with another two run
inning. McColgan scored for the Patriots from a RBI double to left
