First Home Meet of the Season This Weekend for Swimming & Diving

Men's Swimming and Diving Stands in Third Place after Day One of CAA Championships; Women in Seventh

FAIRFAX, Va. - Day one of the CAA Championships wrapped up tonight at the Jim Mckay Natatorium. The Patriot men are currently in third place with 64 points, while the women are in seventh with 57. On the men's side, William and Mary currently holds the top spot with 74 points and on the women's side James Madison is currently the leader with 127 points.

In the first final of the championships, Mason's 200 Medley Relay women's team took sixth place posting a 1:43.30 mark. In the men's 200 Medley Relay, the Patriots took fourth place with a time of 1:29.59. Reigning CAA Champion UNCW took first place in the men's with a CAA record time of 1:27.40 and James Madison took the top spot in the women's relay, also posting a new CAA record of 1:40.41.

The Patriot men's 800 Freestyle Relay team, comprised of David Kiss, Fernando Rubio, Kyle Sockwell and Joey Kelly, took second place with a new school record of 6:34.34 which also beat the previous CAA record.The women took seventh in their respective relay.

Swimming and diving returns to action tomorrow for the second day of the CAA Championships. Tomorrow's events include the M/W 500 yard Freestyle, M/W 200 IM, M/W 50 Freestyle, Men's One-Meter Diving Finals and the M/W 200 Freestyle Relay.
