The Women's tennis team hosted Radford at Montclair Country Club on Saturday evening. The Highlanders proved to be tough competitors before falling to the Patriots, 4-3.
Radford started the scoring by taking the doubles point by winning at #1 and #3. Mason knotted the score as junior captain Ashley Delaney defeated Hana Babic 6-0, 6-1. Senior captain Kiersten Pappas secured the win with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Taylor Fay. At number one singles, Maya Hicks battled Gemma Valls for well over two hours before falling in the third set tie-breaker 7-10. Highlander Allison Michael defeated Andy London to to pull Radford to within one point.
"I was very pleased with how we competed and battled in our singles matches," commented Coach Stephen Curtis. "Emotion played a big factor today as the team had decided to dedicate the match to Andy's father, Tom Londen, who is battling cancer."
