NORFOLK, Va. - The
George Mason wrestling team fell to Old Dominion 25-6 Thursday in their last
Colonial Athletic Association dual before the conference championship in March.
With the win Old Dominion remained undefeated in the conference and Mason dropped
to 0-6.
The Monarchs jumped out
to a 9-0 lead after the first three matches. The Patriots' first points came from
Greg Flournoy who upset Alexander Richardson, who was ranked 30th,
by a 5-1 decision. Old Dominion still led the dual 9-3.
Old Dominion would go
on to win the next five matches to bring to score to 25-3. Jake Kettler added
the final three points for Mason with his 6-3 decision win over Matt Tourdot in
the final match of the night. The Monarchs defeated Mason with a final score of
25-6.
Mason returns to the
mat for its last dual before the CAA Championships, February 21st,
for a 7:00 p.m. dual with Maryland.
