FAIRFAX, Va. – Junior Blake Roulo won all three of his matches on Sunday and remains in the championship bracket at the 51st Ken Kraft Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill. on Sunday.
Roulo, competing unattached and pre-seeded 10th in the tournament, won a 4-2 decision over Illinois' John Fahy in his first match and an 8-7 decision over Iowa's Mike Kelly in his second to remain as one of eight contenders for the championship at 149lbs. He then went on to win his quarterfinal match against Ryan Lubeck of the University of Wisconsin in a 5-3 decision to move to the semifinals of the bracket.
Sophomore's Vincent Rodriguez and Sahid Kargbo each won their opening match before falling in their second contest. Rodriguez advanced on a 5-3 decision over Northwestern's Don Malone at 133lbs. before dropping his second match to Rossi Bruno of Michigan, 4-0. Kargbo earned a pin 6:18 into his bout against Northwestern's Jameson Oster to move to the next round where he fell 8-5 against Princeton's Adam Krop in his 141lb. match.
Freshman Bill Prochniewski, sophomore Matt Meadows and redshirt junior Jake Kettler were each defeated in their first round matchups and will wrestle in the wrestleback on Monday in each of their respective weight classes. As a team, George Mason is currently tied for 24th place with 11.5 points.
